SA6R sound problem - both vortex2 and onboard
In any case, I yanked the vortex2 and enabled the onboard sound. Windows recognizes the onboard sound, all drivers from the cd seem to load, but while the sound card is recognized as an audio device, windows won't map through it so again I have no sound. Any ideas? I'm close to sending the board back.

They mention no word of any specific 3D sound card. Voodooextreme recommends you have a 3D soundcard but doesnt say it supports A3D 2.0. There is information about the built in DSP Also, since EAX is an open standard, Aureal can add support for it to the Vortex 2. Live accelerates DirectSound and DSound3D.

Again, show me a review of someone playing Half-life on a Vortex 2 card. And Creative didnt "license" EAX out. It's open. That's why its being added to DirectX. It can be supported in any upcoming sound card chipset. Why do you think Aureal is in no hurry to make A3D an open technology?
